Among all the explorers, the powerful clan Cyberstorm sent numerous scouting teams in search of any trace of the Forerunner technology and they were extremely fortunate, when Captain Arnold Bennington found, almost guided by his instinct, an extensive subterranean labyrinth in which after two weeks of wandering inside, he finally found what appeared to be an unfinished or disabled gateway (note that to date there is no known way to deactivate a Gateway except by destroying the planet that hosts it) and around which, Bennington discovered with astonishment the reward that half the galaxy was looking for: a whole squadron of formidable Mechs with the appearance of prehistoric monsters.
After proceeding to their extraction and study, it was confirmed that they were Mechs built with Forerunner technology, which like the Ignis model, were mimicking another saurian, this time the powerful triceratops.
Captain Arnold Bennington was unaware then that his fate would be sealed after his first contact with the work of the Forerunner Droch'ah, whom he would end up serving as his lieutenant, seduced by the unrivaled mind of the Forerunner or perhaps, abducted by his psychic powers.
The technology used in the Aspis opened to scientists and engineers new possibilities in the field of protection against the threat of certain capacities that previously could not be mitigated, as the Splash, Trample, Fork and Wide Fork. Because of its portentous defense capabilities, this Mech was baptized with the name of Aspis, a heavy shield used in antiquity by the hoplitas and infantry of ancient Greece.

Triceratops was a herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that appeared during the late Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago. It is one of the last known non-avian dinosaur genera, and became extinct in the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago.
The term Triceratops ("three-horned face") is derived from the Old Terran Ancient Greek τρί- (tri-) meaning "three", κέρας (kéras) meaning "horn", and ὤψ (ops) meaning "face".
Bearing a large bony frill and three horns on its large four-legged body, and possessing similarities with the modern rhinoceros. The functions of the frills and three distinctive facial horns on its head have long inspired debate. Traditionally, these have been viewed as defensive weapons against predators. Different theories pointed towards other functions, like used in identification, courtship and dominance displays, much like the antlers and horns of modern reindeer, mountain goats, or rhinoceros beetles.
Individual Triceratops are estimated to have reached about 7.9 to 9.0 m (25.9 to 29.5 ft) in length, 2.9 to 3.0 m (9.5 to 9.8 ft) in height, and 6.1 to 12.0 tonnes (13,000 to 26,000 lb) in weight. The most distinctive feature is their large skull, among the largest of all land animals. The largest known skull was estimated to have been 2.5 metres (8.2 ft) in length when complete, and could reach almost a third of the length of the entire animal.
