DZK314-G, also known as Dorrin 4, is the fourth of six planets of the Mons system. The Mons system lies in the deep fringe near the 18th quadrant of Clarke Federation borders. It is a half-terraformed planet with abundant mineral deposits.
History
A few years after its discovery in 3124, a mining colony was installed to take advantage of the rich deposits located underground.
In 3201, the colonists suffered a virulent highly contagious infection, that affected the entire population causing all of them to fall ill. After the viral outbreak, the miners were evacuated and kept in quarantine, but after their recovery none of them were willing to return.
Rumours spread that the planet was a cursed place, and because of that no workers were willing to work there. The mining company that was in charge of the concession soon went bankrupt and no other company wanted to take over the operation.
The abandoned planet became a perfect hideout for pirates, bandits, smugglers and other fringe dwellers.
In 3321 the planet became the base of operations of the so-called Pirate King, who created a vast network of operations that disrupted the trade on the outer edges as well as in the galaxy itself, forcing the Clarke Federation and the Mercenary clans to intervene.
The battle of Dorrin 4 took place In 3322, resulting in the last forces of the pirate army being defeated and forcing the Pirate King to abandon his plans to create his own empire. Although his army was destroyed, the Pirate King himself escaped.
After the battle, the Clarke Federation declared the planet under their protection, establishing a garrison using the inventory of the goods seized from merchants. The Federation has resumed terraforming and begun to establish a small colony there.
