Serpentarius Mechs

[Mech Technology]

Known as the Mech Serpentarius Brood, Serpentarius Mechs, Living Mechs and Kaiju Mechs in reference to Behemoths from the Dark Ages movies. This subgroup of Mechs have their origins in the ancient ages, before the Mankind came to life in the Galaxy.

Designed by an ancient alien race that fought against the Forerunner, with a superior bionic technology.

The Brood (Gigus, Skriag and Nakshi classes) was found in forgotten planets from 3273 to 3275, and a decade later, awaken from a Forbidden Past, Serpentarius Alpha 3284 and 3286.

Since their discovery after a millenarian lethargy, the way to create new Mechs similar to the original prototypes by reverse engineering was deciphered, popularizing its use during a decade in which they became the most popular machines of mass destruction.

They are the only sentient or living Mechs in a sense quite approximate to what we understand by life. Some Serpentarius have won their own cults, giving rise to a cruel religion with secret sanctuaries consecrated to Skriag in the gorges of Yomi.

Serpentarius Brood

[Mech Technology, Biology, History]

Origins

The existence of the living Mechas, known as the Gigus, Nakshi and Skriag classes, belong to a mysterious alien species of titanic organism whose origin some theorize as produced in the Forerunner laboratories or perhaps by some other alien species, maybe an enemy of the Forerunners, more than a hundred thousand years ago.

The reason they were created, or modified, seems to be for warlike purposes. A moderately accepted scientific hypothesis explored the signs that in the remote past, before the emergence of mankind, this specie was created to serve as workers and soldiers for easy tasks where brute force was more important than intellect.

It has been suggested that an evolved branch of these behemoths gave rise to the Saurians.

The core of their immense organic bodies, is based on silicon and not on carbon, so they not only have an infinite resistance greater than biological agents and external aggressions, but also have almost immortal lives. At the moment almost everything is unknown about the biology of these creatures that have been adapted with bellicose ends, to be living Mechs.

Nevertheless, their creators gave them exoskeletons integrated to their organisms, notably increasing their resilience in the combat.

A Millennial Dream

Possibly, the Forerunner's fratricidal war led to the near extinction of these intelligent Saurian-titans, some of whom survived, forgotten in numerous corners throughout the galaxy, where they entered a millennial lethargy, awaiting the moment that they were discovered by mankind.

A Meeting Long Delayed

It was not until the 3270's, a long time after the spread of mankind through the gateways, that the specimens of Serpentarius Brood that were in stasis, began to be progressively found, mainly by the Shogunate. These have been studied and reproduced, first by Alpha Corp and later by the Cherry Blossom Mechworks, albeit in a technological quality somewhat lower than that reached during the Forerunner era.

The Serpentarius Swarm

This species, apparently had superior specimens able to control the remaining "behemoths", whose number in the past is uncertain. Today, there is known to be the existence of a single alpha sample: Serpentarius Alpha, who was found by Droch'ah, and used to drive a massive Serpentarius swarm against the galaxy, to test the power of the factions during the years 3284 and 3285.

Production

Although the Shogunate was first to discover and produce the living mechs, after the civil war in 3307 all of them passed under control to Kiyomasa, Prince of Flowers and ruler of the Sengakuji Reaches and his manufacturer, the Cherry Blossom Mechworks.
