Medals & Special Achievements

[Pilot Awards]

Medals constitute a material and symbolic form for honorific, commemorative, religious or ornamental purposes.

In the military field, they serve to recognize those military personnel distinguished by extraordinary or heroic deeds.
Etymology

Medal comes from the Latin word "Metallum" (metal) and was minted in the form of gold, silver, platinum, tin, nickel and copper disks or other minor alloys

History

Traditionally they were created with noble metals (gold and silver and other metals and alloys), with the shape of medallions, circular, oval or polygonal, with a cord or edging allowing to hang it of the garments or to the neck.

The first known medals were coined by the Roman Empire of Old Terra, a tradition that revitalized the Illyrian Hegemony.

At present, the Great Powers create their own medals to reward their military and the Craftsmen create a series of them for recognition of the mercenary clans and other Mech pilots.

Craftsmen Medals

The Craftsmen have created traditional medals in the categories of gold for the champions, silver for the runners-up and bronze for the third places, as well as in some cases a commemorative medal given for participation to those who did not obtain rise to a podium. These participation medals are usually made from lesser metals and is why Mech pilots call these medals "plastic", for their inferior quality.
Every year, Craftsmen mint their medals to reward the following categories of participation in their Mech Games and Tournaments: Faction, Clan and Squad Wars, King of the Mountain Circuits, Circuit Fights and Special achievements.
