The Crimson Cavaliers were formed by Duke Crimson in 3329 as a response to the pirate threat that was running nearly unchecked across the Society of Cogwerk Planets. Formed from the Duke’s household guard and not a few volunteers from the Legionnaires of Galactic Trade and other Cogwerk military forces along with several mercenary pilots that came out of retirement, the Cavaliers can easily be considered a veteran force before they ever saw combat.
Organizationally the Cavaliers are armored cavalry force. They are comprised of mostly fast attack, medium to heavy units such as Megazome and Smilodon. With the backing of Duke Crimson and his political influence the Cavaliers are well equipped with generous amounts of the best weapons and equipment available.
While some pilots from the Mercenary Clans dismiss them as nothing more than glorified house troops there is plenty of evidence from the final Battle of Masks against the Pirate King that the Crimson Cavaliers can hold their own as well as any of the clans out there and on more than one occasion, came to the rescue of mercenary pilots who were in danger of being overrun. It is unclear what role this new clan will play in the larger scheme but they have and will certainly provide a new avenue for the Society of Cogwerk Planets to resolve both internal and external threats.
