Etymology
The name "Asteria Illyrianis" comes to galactic scientific vocabulary from Classical Latin, which came from Ancient Greek ἀστήρ, "Aster", the type genus, that means "Star".
The complete name means "Star of Illyria", as this extremely rare flower has been seen only in the bounds of the Illyrian Hegemony where it receives its name from the similitude with some of the Giant Red Stars that can be found in the Hegemony planetary systems.
Distribution
Typically, the Asteria grows only in tropical environments of high humidity and temperature, often showing the presence of aquifers near the surface. The Asteria is a flower of great rarity since the plant usually gives a single flower in an ephemeral bloom that lasts only a few weeks until the flower spreads its spores and withers.
Curiosities
It is said that to find the ultra-rare 17-leaved Asteria Illyrianis brings a stroke of good luck. Truth or lie, there is certainly a traditional award given by the Novum Dolorum Botanists to those who find and document one.
