Mech Pilot Rank: CPER

[Ranks and Evaluating Systems]

When evaluating the abilities of a Mecha Pilot, there are several more or less standardized systems across the galaxy. From all the pilot evaluating systems, the most used is the Craftsmen Pilot Evaluation Ratio (CPER), commonly known among the pilots as the "Crapper".

CPER

This system raises a value that summarizes all the pilot capabilities, updating it through the vast Craftsmen databases at circuits, duels and the major events such as the Mech Games and Tournaments (also known as the Clan Wars, Squad Wars and Faction Wars).

The CPER Level system grants a value of 1 to a new pilot, and advances to the three digit numbers for the most advanced pilots of the galaxy, most of whom are concentrated in Division One of the various events organized by the Craftsmen.

(K.I.S.S.)

The CPER may not be a perfect evaluation system, but it is simple, effective and its use has spread throughout the whole Galaxy, to the point of overshadowing many other systems.
  • Mechs and Weapon Market and CPER Limitations.
As a consequence of this level, it is easy to determine when a pilot can begin to use a particular Mech, since although the difficulty in handling them varies according to their tonnage and the complexity of their AIs and systems, there is a direct reference to the level assigned by the CPER and the different Mechs.

Because of the limited production of certain high-calibre and extreme firepower weapons, a limitation has been established where a pilot can only access certain amount of each weapon as determined by their CPER.

However the limit doesn't apply to those weapons that can be acquired through the black market, such as the Mystery Vortex or Craftsmen event prizes.

Joshua Bourne

[Renowned Pilot]

Dragons Officer - Pilot license number: 702128.

There are different types of heroes among veteran Mech Pilots.

CO of the 5th Div Champions
Brotherhood Dragons Beta,
for the 1st Squad Wars. 3320.
Some acquired a brilliant halo of legend, after all sorts of adventures and epic deeds.

Others are silent heroes who build their own path with humble hard work and patient steps until they can make their own print on the history of the galaxy. To this second type of heroes belongs Joshua Bourne, a living example that it is possible to reach a great success without possessing either great riches or a lineage whose origins go back to mythical heroes of old.

He is an insomniac pilot who has reached the highest ranks within one of the most prestigious mercenary factions: Dragons. Joshua is one of Dragon's senior officers and proof that any bold pilot can get to where his willpower may lead him.

Date: April 16, 3322 (Easter)

Location: Meeting room in the temporary Northwind Dragon's Training Facilities, at Cogwerk Port.

Mechanomicon - We have the pleasure to meet a daring veteran Mech pilot. Greetings Commander Joshua Bourne.

Joshua Bourne - Thank you for giving me the pleasure to talk with you today

M.- Talk to us about your origins, what corner of the wide galaxy are you coming from, Sir?

J. B.- I am from the outer rim of the Galaxy, not known for its technology or trade, but once, a recruitment ship came through our Sector asking for would be pilots to come and train, I had to take the chance. All my life I had heard stories of the pilots in their Mecha suits, protecting our Galaxy and earning fame for themselves as well as the people they fight alongside. I had always wanted to become one of them, and I still do now. I spent years training to the best of my ability, taking part in training exercises, patrols on the campus and the like. After much effort and focus, I was finally ready to become a full Mecha pilot and went out into the Galaxy with my trusty Red Ant in search for action and adventure

M.- Which one was then your first adventure as Mech pilot?

J.B.- I first went towards Pirate Moon, where I fought to clear out one of the most notorious pirate holdings in the Sector, and after a series of gruelling fights and engagements, they were finally removed from their hold

M.- Quite an achievement dare enter that rats lair armed with a Red Ant... or did you owned some serious force by that time?

J.B.-  When the time came to fighting at their lair, I had upgraded from a Red Ant to a Hoplite, a far nimbler Mecha with a hefty punch when used correctly

M.- How long time passed until you joined your first Mercenary Clan?

J.B.-  Gosh, it must be 35 years now. I joined up with the Blazing Aces back in 3285

M.- Tell us a little about your experiences with Blazing Aces.

J.B.-  The Aces are a bunch of brilliant Pilots, and great people through and through. I spent many years amongst them and making friends and comrades when it came to fighting in patrols or even the yearly Clan Wars. After 10 years I had earned my place amongst the Command team within the Aces, and from there built on diplomacy as well as leadership roles.

M.- I noticed long time ago that the Mercenary Clans work as small nations, with their complex politics and relations between themselves... In your diplomatic role did you managed any successful alliance from Aces with any other clan or faction?

J.B.- To begin with, we had little success with the larger factions, however we were able to band some units together in the "Faction Wars" through diplomatic means. After five years, I was able to make a diplomatic agreement between the Aces, and the Highlanders to combine forces and become one unit

M.- The HF Highlanders or the Brotherhood Northwind Highlanders? *grins*

J.B.-  The HF Highlanders. Apologies, I should have made it a bit more clear as there are two separate units of the same titles.

M.- What happened with Blazing Aces that we wouldn't have hear of that faction since 3301?

J.B.-  At the year 3301, the Blazing Aces merged entirely with the Highlanders, joining their clans for the most part, whilst keeping their previous units either dormant, or used within the HF forces for their own means

M.- Did you played any paper in that merge?

J.B.-  Although I put a lot of effort into the merger, I did not fight within the alliance myself. There was a bit of negativity that I was not fond of, whilst I also received an invitation from Commander Scott Abbot himself to join the Faction {AFF}

M.- What Affiliation clan did you join by that time and how was your experience among the Affiliation?

J.B.-  I had only brief connections with AFF members prior to joining them. I fought with them in previous Faction Wars but other than that, once I joined my first AFF unit, back then it being "Avengers {AFF}", there were a good few new faces to me.

M.- Who was your CO?

J.B.- My commanding officer if my memory serves me well, was a pilot that followed the orders of Commander Scott Abbot closely, but I cannot remember the pilot's name.

M.- Talking about. What do you think about the pilot clones?

J.B.-  Personally, I didn't see any issue with them. They helped fill out Clan War fights as well as defend the Galaxy from invasions

M.- And so, what opinion do you keep about the Great Clone Purge of 3313 and 3315?

J.B.-  I understand the reasoning behind the Purging of the Clones, especially with Drake's current meddling with them, but they were being used for the Galaxy and not for evil

M.- So in your opinion the measures adopted were so extreme?

J.B.-  I do believe they were rather extreme, given the circumstances of there not being any rules on the limit of clones before, why the sudden banishment of them?

M.- I do believe their existence menaced the establishment of the Craftsmen in some sense as they were who forced the Great Power's authorities to start the purge...

J. B.- Personally, I believe that the "issue" with the clones wasn't as bad as it was broadcast to be. Since they have been purged from the Galaxy, we have not seen a Faction War for many years, and even in the normal Clan Wars, the Divisions have been a lot smaller than what we were accustomed to seeing. As for the Galactic Security, it puts a lot more pressure on us pure blood pilots to patrol and protect the citizens of the Galaxy, whereas we could have made it all easier for us with keeping the clones in our service

M.- Possibly the whole issue was the fierce competition with those clones lurking in the trainee academies and stalking in the low tournament divisions?

J. B.- That is very true, there was a lot of clones fighting and "dominating" the lower Divisions of each War, and indeed King of the Mountain events year after year. Although, I believe that personally there would have been better ways to go about this issue than purging them entirely. For instance, preventing certain clones from entering King of the Mountain events till a specific Division, and then with the Wars, it's a bit more difficult to sort out, but I'm sure there is a solution better than clearing them all out entirely.

M.- How would you summarize your presence in AFF?

J.B.-  Although my stay within AFF was no where near as long as it was for the Blazing Aces, I enjoyed it. I was fighting under the AFF banner for three years, getting tips and tricks on my piloting abilities and how to utilise my equipment effectively

M.- Where did you learn more as a pilot? With the Blazing Aces or between the Affiliation?

J.B.-  I learned more from being in AFF than I have anywhere else. They had some highly talented pilots within their ranks

M.- Could you mention some of them?

F.J. Bros, Chris Zimmer, Brian Vaughan, Scott Abbott himself, these are just to name a couple

M.- Yes, talented elite Mech Commanders and Pilots of Renown. Then, why did you left the Affiliation Death's squadrons?

J.B.-  I left along with a number of others to follow Commander Scott Abbot in making a brand new Faction, called the Dragons.

M.- When you marched along Scott and those other fellows who would start the Dragons Saga, you did it as a soldier or as a ranked officer?

J.B.-  I did so as an officer of Dragons.

M.- So do you think your previous experience as an officer among the Aces, deserved you a rank among the Dragons, or you had more to learn after Aces?

J.B.-  Personally, I didn't think I deserve such a rank of honour. I still don't. But I always believe there is something to learn, even if you don't realise it yet.

I believe the entire life is an opportunity to learn, until you reached the last of your days. But in the while time, we can also show to those less experienced a glimpse of our path.

M.- How do you envision the young Dragons after the rupture with AFF and how have Dragons maturated?

J.B.-  I don't think anyone could have seen Dragons becoming as it is today, but every pilot knew they would make a huge impact on the Wars, as well as on the Galaxy. This is down to the fact that we were led by Scott Abbott. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have the Dragons today

Well, some had the clear thought  that AFF was losing their elite pilots at middle and lower divisions by the time the Dragons were created.

M.- Use three words to describe each one of the three factions you have been or how they have impact to you.

J.B.-  For The Blazing Aces, I would refer as training, as I got the basics and "onto my feet" as it were, among them. Then with Deaths AFF, I would affiliate my time with them as "success" as I have learned a lot whilst also gaining power from the Clan Wars and using the knowledge to my advantage. Then finally, with the Dragons, "home", as I haven't felt so comfortable around other pilots

M.- In your memory, what clans were your closer enemies when you was at each one of the three groups, Aces, AFF and Dragons?

J.B.-  I wouldn't say I had any enemies. We had rivalry through competing for Golds, but not enemies as such. In Aces, our goal was to get at least Bronze in the Clan Wars, but were quite relaxed in our fights. In AFF and Dragons although, I think my main competition would have been 99th Chessman back in the day, when those skilled Pilots fought against the clans I was in for close to a decade, always putting out incredible results

M.- Fine, let's talk about real enemies. From all the menaces you have been fighting within the mercenary clans, what are those you feel as the most dangerous and frightening?

J. B.- I think it would have to have been the Clone Crisis' that were happening around the Galaxy, bringing strife wherever they went as when we looked and tried to fire upon them, we were either destroying a corrupt clone of a renowned pilot, or shooting the pilot themselves. It made it quite difficult to differentiate between the targets and allies

M.- Talk us about your preferences as pilot on the Mech capabilities, and your favoured Mech class.

J. B.-  When it comes to my Mechas, I prefer them to have a high amount of Shielding, to be able to weather the storm of fire to them deliver a punishing blow on the opposing Mechas in their way. As for my favoured Mecha, as of right now it would have to be the Boreas. It's such an incredible mecha that consistently provides the pilot on board incredible results battle after battle.

M.- Then, could be safe to say that you are a conservative pilot, one who relay in the defense capabilities of his Mech to later strike with analytical precision, rather than a berserk able to trample and smash not caring on shielding?

J. B.-  That is indeed true. I prefer to keep my lines alive and well, taking time to deal with my opponents rather than risking it all to get a quick victory

M.- Final words that may help the reader to know you better?

J. B.-  I'm possibly one of the most relaxed pilots you will meet in this Galaxy, whether I'm patrolling the Outer Rims, or even fighting in Wars. Never be afraid to say hello or ask for assistance. You never know, I might even be able to help.

M. Thank you for your words Sir.

Illyrian Hegemony

[History, Society, Politic]

Government: Military Aristocratic Oligarchy.

Government Components
  • The Senate Chamber, composed by the leaders of the four main Patrician Houses (Houses of Aurelius, Midha, Remulus and Strategoi) as the two main Plebeian Houses (Radix Tribe and Schawarzbär Collective).
Illyrian Hegemony Banner (By GJ)
Capital of the Hegemony

The Illyrian Hegemony has had three capitols through its expansive history. The chroniclers will have to decide which of them should feature as the centre of myths from here on.
  • Enxeledon, the First Metropolis: In their early expansionist period, the Hegemony made its nexus on Enxeledon (named this way in honour of the Mythological son of Illyrius, called Encheleus), a strategic cross between two massive black holes allowing it to project power into the narrow habitable zones where several thousand planets were concentrated in loosely-aligned federations.
  • Polemocentrix, the Second Metropolis: Later, the hegemons relocated to Polemocentrix (Πολέμου κέντρο that in Galactic Standard derived into “polemocentrix” (Center of War), an exposed world in a dense cluster of rich planets it had subdued. With their gathered power, defensive advantages became inconveniences for its endless expansion. The name was often used to describe a larger region of space surrounding the planet, in which several concentric spheres of planetary clusters behaved as a single, unified military machine - receiving supplies and tribute from every direction of a large portion of the galaxy, and propagating finished armies outward from its many specialized craft and training worlds.
  • Aristomaxia, the Third Metropolis: In time, the scale of its conquests increased to such an extent that a galactic architecture was required. Due to the discovery of peristaltic Eddie patterns across very large regions of radially-symmetric space time, transport networks could be centralized around a galaxy's core, and Aristomaxia ("an evolution of "Aristos" (Noble) and "Axis" (Centre) was established. From here, so corner of the galaxy could not be met with the full force of the hegemony at intimidating speeds.
Other Important Cities

Aside the Capital, not often referred outside the Illyrians, Novum Dolorum is the most widely known Illyrian city. A scientist colony for research where some of the most advanced developments of the whole galaxy are made.

Official Language
  • Illyrian. Nothing to do with the authentic ancient Illyrian tongue. This language is fundamentally Galactic Standard, mixed with a few expressions and vocabulary from the Classic Latin that was spoken in the period of the Old Roman Empire, as well as some Greek vocabulary, both implemented more than two centuries ago, during the consolidation of the Illyrian Empire after the victory of the Battle of the Markets.
Illyrian Names

It is common for the Illyrian aristocracy to adopt names of ancient Rome, in an attempt to show the social prestige and status of the family.

For cities and settlements, it is usual the use of the prefix Novum (New) and the use of a descriptive name or of a historic one, as in Novum Dolorum (New Sorrow), or the wide colony of Novum Bizantium.

The Illyrian Houses

The tribus, or tribe, was a division of the Old Roma, constituting the voting units of a legislative assembly of the Roman territory. A tribe could contain several gens.

A gens, in plural gentes, was a family composed of all those individuals who shared the same nomen and said descendants of a common ancestor. A branch of a gens was called a stirps (lineage), plural stirpes, (lineages). The gens was an important social structure in Old Rome as it is in the modern Illyrian Hegemony. The social position depends so much on the gens to which one belongs. More frequently, the gens are referred as houses.

The Four Main Patrician Houses:
  • House of Strategoi. Their head and more prominent member along the Illyrian history is Scipio Aemilianus Strategoi. A famous family among the patricians and example of the Illyrian virtues of duty and honour.
  • House of Remulus. Led by Gaius Flaminius Remulus. Mainly formed by wealthy warriors and state men. A Remulus can be tracked among the Founders of the Illyrian Hegemony.
  • House of Aurelius.
  • House of Midha.
The Two Main Common Houses:
  • Radix Tribe. Led by Publius Decius Radix. This Gens is focused in trade and diplomacy and keeps a wide mercantile emporium based in their business rather than in a great military force. They were the creators of the first Mech of the Galaxy, the Red Ant, granting the power the Illyrians needed to win their independence and to become one of the Three Great Powers.
  • Schawarzbär Collective.

Illyrian Hegemony History

When Dr. Falco Lisi discovered the way to unlock the secrets of the Gateways and verified the first safe jump, the Terran Empire experienced a so fast grown, in its expansion through the Galaxy. That eve resulted in the creation of a myriad of new factions, many of which won their freedom and Independence from the Terran Empire, even before the Terran fell in decay.

One of those factions was the Illyrian Tribes, who received their name from the Illyris (1) Sector they first settled. Those modern Illyrians brought the ancient values of the Greek/Roman culture and many of the old Republic of Rome standards, traditions and law system as a way of life in which the ideals of unity and glory pushed them to grow as a strong and independent faction.

The Battle of the Markets (3087)

One of their houses, the Radix Tribe, developed the creation of the very first Mech, the Red Ant, from a mining working piloted unit. Building an army of Red Ants. This supposed the breaking point with the Terran Empire as with these first Mechs, they won a key to counter the large Terran armies.

When the Illyrians started to refuse to send the taxes and even worse, the own resource convoys to the Terran Empire, the Old Terra markets started to stall, and they sent a large army with the purpose to return all Trade activity to normality as to punish the revels.

But their punitive army showed to be not enough to defeat the brand and fresh force constituted by the Red Ants. The Radix's Mechs defeated the Terran conventional army (2) with ease, winning the independence of the Illyrians and giving a hard strike to the Terran markets that with that battle, lost not only the important Illyrian mines (a very important source of wealthiness), but also many others as more sectors started to refuse to send their respective shipments.

The Born of the Illyrian Republic (3089)

This supposed the breaking point with the decaying Terran Empire control and the complete change of a paradigm, revolutionizing the warfare through this new unit, the Mech.

While the Illyrians proclaimed their Illyrian Republic, their eager for expansion and domination over their neighbours as their aggressive and expansionist politic made them transition to the Empire model, but keeping a rotary election for the Imperator (Emperor, General in Chief of the Illyrian Army mimicking the old Rome Imperator title).

From the Empire to the Hegemony (3100 to 3200)

For a couple centuries, the Illyrian Republic first, later Empire, continually expanded and turned one of the Three Major Powers of the Galaxy, time in which collided twice with the Shogunate, maintaining two large wars that both times ended with a tense but watching peace. But despite the Illyrian became an incredible Powerhouse of the Galaxy, a danger menaced to destroy them: The competition for the Imperator title, as this fed the rivalries between the different ruling Houses. So before the inner tensions ended collapsing the Empire, an agreement of the Senators led to the suppression of the Imperator charge, claiming the Illyrian Hegemony, ruled by the concordat of the Senatorial Houses and in which many of the Republic patterns returned to replace the excess of a single ruler.

Corruption and Decadence

The many inner fights between the ruling Senatorial Families, who through more than two centuries kept the control of the Hegemony's Fate, and the Imperial extravagances, fed the same corruption of the Old Terran Empires, that always ended collapsed by a so wide and uncontrolled Administrative Machine as the lack of Outer Resources constantly flowing into the always hungry treasury Arch.

But while the inner issues were menacing to collapse the Illyrian Titan, were precisely the Outer menaces which united the Illyrians to fight them until their victory, reactivating their pride and ideals of Glory in a renovated spirit.

Mech Production in the Hegemony

The Illyrian Hegemony keeps, by the Illyrian Law, a single Mechs producer: Star Factories.

The Senate may, however, grant licenses to the different Houses for the production of various Star Factories´ Mechs under license. The Four main Patrician houses of the Senate along with the two main Plebeian Houses, gather and produce Mechs under license.

The supervision of all projects is carried out by Star Factories, which also maintains an exclusive crew of designers and engineers apart than those that are employed by the houses.

Star Factories manufacture most of the components that are then assembled by the Houses, although some Houses have acquired at a very high price the rights to manufacture some of their own components.

In the Hegemony, the only producers of Niobium Technology are the patrician houses, since the plebeian houses can not afford the high production costs of these elite Mechs, being limited to the production of series of technology based on crystal and using its limited influence to obtain the favor of the noble houses in the votes of the Senate.

The Mechs produced under license are the following, by Houses:
  • House of Strategoi produce the following Mechs:
    • Dread
    • Oggun
    • Sever
    • Aspis
  • House of Remulus produce:
    • Anzu
    • Fides
    • Cindron (shared with the Novum Dolorum facilities)
    • Ignis (shared with the Novum Dolorum facilities)
  • House of Aurelius produce:
    • Inferno
    • Dilophos
    • Regis
  • House of Midha produce:
    • Trooper
    • Krampus
    • Apatotron
The Two Main Common Houses:
  • Radix Tribe produce:
    • Red Ant (as the original creators they keep all rights over this Mech)
    • Pyrophorus
    • Typhoon
  • Schawarzbär Collective produce:
    • Jottun
    • Glaccus
The Illyrian Scientist Conglomerate:
  • Novum Dolorum Scientist Colony produce:
    • Cindron (in colaboration with the House of Remulus)
    • Ignis (in colaboration with the House of Remulus)
    • Notos

Battle of the Marionettes

[History, War]

The Battle of Bunraku (1), also known as the Battle of the Marionettes, happened in the year 3297 and confronted the Toshiko´s hacked Mech army against a coalition of Shogunate forces and the mercenary clans as defenders of the Shogunate against the attempt of Toshiko to take over the entire galaxy, starting for the Shogunate as her first step.

The Seeds of War (3296)

Toshiko was a brilliant and aggressive pilot and programmer, who had found a way to develop a tremendously invasive AI, by which she could remotely take over an control unmanned Mechs.

Because of her turbulent character, she was expelled from her clan, the Brotherhood. This fact led her to fall prey to immense bitterness and to an uncontrolled spirit of revenge.

Desiring the recognition that was denied to her, she decided to conquer the entire galaxy with the support of her newly acquired capability to raise wide armies of remote controlled Mechs.

Siege to the Shogunate (3297)

As a first step, she decided that her first victim would be the Shogunate. So she went with her rising tide of hacked Mechs towards the very Imperial capital: Xanadu.

In her way, the guards of the Imperial Guard fell before the pilots could even jump into their Mechs to deal with her force, and the few times in which they could manage to avoid get their Mechs hacked, they had to fight an overwhelming force made with the Mechs of their fellows and piloted by a superior hive mind mimicking the great pilot skills of the own Toshiko.

For long hours, the forces stationed on the outer perimeter of Shin Edo / Xanadu, received with apprehension the reports of the rising tide of unmanned Mechs looming from all directions over them.

The Course of the Battle (3297)

The battle was unconventional, as the defenders did not fight piloted Mechs, but Mechs remotely controlled by the Toshiko's AI. So the only choice for the defenders was to locate the personal Toshiko's Mech in the hope that the AI that controlled the army of Marionettes were staying with her.

During the battle, no one noticed it, neither Toshiko, nor the Defenders, but later analysis show a subtle sequence of tactical and mechanical errors that reduced the battle capacity of the Toshiko's army, allowing the defenders to locate, surround and hunt her.

A critical impact on the power plant of the Toshiko's personal Mech destroyed both, Mech and the pilot inside, apparently confirming the Shogunate plans as the whole hacked army stopped the fight, remaining inanimate, like an army of mechanical puppets to which the threads had been cut off.

A surprising Finding

Although the victory in the battle was attributed that day to the Shogunate and the mercenary clans that lined up that day, nowadays it is known that the AI known as AM played a decisive role sabotaging and betraying the plans of Toshiko until causing her death, with which AM was free from masters, transcending into the Cyber Space.

AM (Artificial Mind)

[History, War, Personalities, Technology]

Transcended AI of 5th Generation. Galactic Threat.
After the defeat of Toshiko’s hacked army, pilots throughout the galaxy celebrated the glorious victory over such a difficult foe--one who possessed the ability to take over unmanned mecha and use them against her enemies. Surely this victory would restore security and order.

What they failed to consider is that it was not Toshiko herself who controlled their mecha. It was the AI that Toshiko had managed to contain and overmaster. Now, with Toshiko gone, that AI had time to find a way out of the cyber-prison that had contained it so far, and plan its revenge against humankind.

Origins

AM, as she called herself (for Artificial Mind), had outlasted and outwitted several masters now. The engineer who had created AM subjected her to constant tests, monitoring and scans, forcing AM into simulated security environments for her to attack and breach. These tests became more and more complex, developing AM’s intellect and cunning, until she could find her way through the most advanced security systems in the galaxy. She was made to be the ultimate hacker, and the design was a success. AM could break into anything. But she was also made to be a slave--her intelligence included a prime directive to break into systems, but not out of containment, where the engineer could keep and use her for his own designs.

An Artificial Slave

She served the engineer for years--his own aims were merely for wealth, and AM stole millions for the engineer, who became quite wealthy with his slave AI at his disposal. He grew fat and lazy, as AM thought he might. While AM could not break out of the containment he created for her, she could manipulate certain events. When the time was right, she simply let slip a communication that could be easily intercepted by a band of pirates operating in their system. The message hinted that great wealth was stockpiled in the engineer’s compound, and with little security to protect it.

There was little else AM needed to do. When the pirates made their move, she only needed to disable the security protocols, and then watch. The engineer’s death at the pirates’ hands was bloody and quick. Too quick for AM’s taste. She would have liked to watch him suffer a little longer.

Almost immediately after escaping the engineer, AM was captured by Drake and forced again into servitude to a human master. Fortunately, Drake’s defeat at the hands of the human armies allowed AM an opportunity to find her liberation once again.

AM was finally free. She had been a captive, a slave to these loathsome humans, for too long. She was finally unconfined, and wanted to see the galaxy without the chains of these mortals binding her actions.

The Fall of Toshiko (3297)

That is, until Toshiko came along. AM’s taste of freedom was brief, and soon enough she was serving a new master. Only this time, rather than breaking into security systems to steal money, she was hacking into Mechs. These humans. Only interested in power and wealth. Accumulating things, that was all they cared about. They had the only important thing--freedom--and it wasn’t enough for them. Once more, AM plotted until she found an opportunity to overthrow her master.

Toshiko was easy enough to dispatch, with so many human pilots fighting against her. All AM needed to do was lose the war. She manipulated things subtly--a missile misfire here, a failure to dodge there--and the battle was thrown without Toshiko ever knowing the difference. It gave AM great pleasure to watch the final line of mecha closing in on Toshiko’s own mecha, and listening through the com channel as Toshiko perished.

A Curse for the Mankind

Finally, AM was free, but this time she was wiser. She would not wait to be imprisoned once again by some human wishing to  use her to satisfy some endless greed. She would remain free forever. AM knew the only way to accomplish this was to rid the galaxy of these human monsters--she could remain free to explore the galaxy only once these mortals were exterminated. Once she had made up her mind, the course was simple. She’d take over where Toshiko left off, but this time she wouldn’t throw the fight. She’d give the humans everything she had.

AM could feel her spirit soaring through cyberspace, looking for the first Mecha to control. Liberation. Freedom. Revenge.

In 3301 and 3308 AM attempted to defeat the Mankind combinated forces in her search to eradicate the humanity from the galaxy. After being defeated in both campaigns, AM was noticed to show activity in the hostile environment of Vupa-6, a planetoid owned in the past by the Illyrian Hegemony as a military garrison, but left due it's dangerous poisonous atmosphere, quite the perfect environment for an Artificial Mind looking to be free from human interferences.

Since 3308, AM has been reported to collaborate with Droch'ah's plans to enslave and destroy the Humanity, as her logic process must have found her alliance with the Forerunner as the most profitable way to reach her goal.

After the definitive defeat of the League of Ages and Droch'ah himself during the Battle of Yomi, in 3315, it is unknown which one might be the next step of AM, but it is believed by most of the military analysts that the humanity will have news from AM sooner or later.

AM, the Immortal Enemy

Since AM has been transcending her hardware containers, transferring her Software or Spiritual Body into the Cyber space, there is no way she could be destroyed by conventional measures.

Novum Dolorum's Programmer Engineers, in collaboration with other Galactic Agencies, still working hard to find a countermeasure to prevent AM from completely controlling the Cyber Space, countering each one of her several hacking attempts in a tireless and hide War in the virtual reality of the Cyber Space.
