Upper Fighting Machine (UFM)

[Mech Technology]

The UFM (Upper Fighting Machine or Ultraheavy Fighting Machine) is a subgroup belonging to the BFM category, standing for those Mechs whose tonnage is 105 or higher.

Although only 5 tons separates the UFM from the BFM, the complexity to create equipment modules for these new titans is so great that it highlights the difficulty the manufacturers face to increase the dimensions and displacement of the super Mechs.

There are a few modules suitable to equip both, BFM 100 tons and UFM 105 tons, but these are really exotic and rarely affordable except sometimes through the Mystery Vortex. Few elite pilots are able to equip more than one or two UFMs with Niodes modules, but there are some who consider this super class as the technological vanguard of the future.

    Big Fighting Machine (BFM)

    [Mech Technology]

This category encompasses all those Mechs with 90 to 100 tons. While technically the 105 ton Mechs are universally recognized as the top of the BFM, Mechanomicon has created for them the 'UFM' category (standing for Upper Fighting Mech).

Usually, a BFM Mech has a height above 9 meters, requiring the largest form of an icosahedral envelope rather than the tetrahedral envelope in a gateway.

The category name is said to have been assigned by the test pilots of the Jadoon, the first Mech belonging to this category, a crystal giant Mech of Forerunner technology, found on an anonymous planet during prospective mining activities by the Star Factories. The manufacturer soon began their study by reverse engineering and their subsequent production.

Apparently the exclamation of the test pilot was “What is this... Big Fucking Monster?”. The Engineer Team Director in charge of the project, quickly turned it into “Big Fighting Machine”. Despite the fix, many pilots and technicians like to keep using the original designation for BFM.

In the Mecha-warfare of the 34th century (3300s) there is not elite commander that were not leading an almost full BFM deploy in their squad.

    100 tons BFMs

At the release of the first 100 tons BFMs, the available gear was very poor as to make from the 100 toners really competitive Mechs, but with the course of time, this situation has drastically changed with the creation of extraordinary and optimized exclusive equipment modules to improve the structural capabilities and firepower. This situation repeated with the release of the 105 Tons UFMs, as the manufacturers started producing very poor equipment, turning it for most of the pilots a non viable Mech Class.

This Mech Category encompasses all Mechs with a tonnage between 80 to 85 Tons.

The discovery in 3273 of the Gigus and Skriag was the beginning of the launching of this Mech category, which dominated the circuits and battlefields for a whole decade, experiencing its decline as kings with the discovery in Yomi of the first super Mechs produced in the past by the Forerunner and that would give way to the production of those known as BFM (Big 'Fighting' Mechs).

      Heavy Mechs

      [Mech Technology]

This Mech Category encompasses all Mechs with a tonnage between 55 to 75 Tons.

The Heavy Mechs started to be released in the 33th century (3201 to 3300) and brought a new age of high destruction to the battlefields, quickly replacing the Oggun, who until the release of a new series of heavy Mechs was the king of the circuits.

Some of the Heavy Mechs made history, as the formidable Smilodon, champion for several years in the circuits. Others as Sever and Dilophos made their niche in the dreams of all pilots, becoming a new standard among the elite.
