Niobium

[Physic, Technology]

Niobium (Symbol: Nb) is one of the rarest and the most precious metal in the Galaxy.
Z: 41 (Atomic number)

Known to have been first discovered by the Forerunners more than 100,000 years ago, it was rediscovered on Old Terra in 1801 by the chemist Charles Hatchet and received its current name by the chemist Heinrich Rose in 1864 in honor of Niobe. Niobe in the Greek Mythology of Old Terra, was the tragic daughter of Tantalus (son of Zeus) and Dione.

Niobium is a lustrous grey metal of cubic structure with superconductive and paramagnetic properties.

Among the many applications of  Niobium, can be counted the production of super alloys, superconductors, electro ceramics and medical applications.

The most important use of Niobium is the production of the Niode Technology, that have been first developed by Forerunner Scientists and was later studied and expanded by human scientists.
