 The Society of Cogwerk Planets (also known as SoCP) constitutes one of the three major powers, competing as an equal with the Illyrian Hegemony and the Meiji Shogunate in power and influence through the whole Galaxy.

The Cogwerk political system is a flexible Commonwealth of Planets, with a Great Chamber of Representatives that are only summoned in times of extreme need. Normally, the Cogwerk settlements operate semi-autonomously, as trade-metropolis with definite roles for each faction.

 In the 3000's, the success of the Cogwerk Commonwealth led them into the Project to create an exhaustive document that consolidated the relations among the associated planets and supported a common and solid Justice System for them. On June 15, 3015, the representatives of the original Society of Cogwerk Planets met on the planet Greenfall to sign the Great Chart, also known as the Great Treaty, as the very foundation of their Law and Justice System.

Cogwerk space is divided in sectors, from which the larger and most important are controlled by the five major factions in the Cogwerk Commonwealth. Those sectors are: Consol, Talbus, Trinitas, San Lorenzo and Legion.
